I’m very proud of our conscientious, conserving community. We have been conserving water long before the State of California mandated it. Our water community used 19% less water this year than the previous year. That’s great, but we had already been conserving water during the previous two years—20% last year and 20% the year before that. With this additional conservation, in a time drought, you are to be commended.
As you are aware, the Rio Linda Elverta Community Water District’s latest capital project was recently finished. The L Street water reservoir and pump station provides Rio Linda and Elverta sufficient water pressure and helps assure the delivery of clean water to our customers. What you may not know is that the project’s engineer, Jim Carson and his company, Affinity Engineering, received the Environmental Project of the Year Award for 2014 from the American Society of Civil Engineers. Congratulations to them and hurray for us.
Our General Manager, Mary Henrici, is continuing to direct the capital improvements to the district. New mains are being installed, dead-ends are being looped, and building projects are being provided with water. I believe I speak for the Board of Directors when I say how proud we are of the management, contracted professionals, field staff, and office staff in taking this water district into the future.
