Get a Handle on Leaks!

Do you have a leak?
Look at your previous water bill’s usage, is it higher than normal during this time of the year?

Make sure there are no water appliances running inside your home, such as clothes washer, showers, sinks, etc. Now look at your water meter near the street and see if the digital numbers are increasing as you watch. If so, you have a leak.

Is your leak inside of outside of your home?

First you will need to turn off all the water in your home. All homes should have a water valve that can turn off all water into the home. Now that your water to the house is off go back to your meter and see if the low flow indicator is spinning or you see the number changing constantly. If you do not see the indicator spinning or the numbers increasing on the meter it is very likely that the leak is coming from inside your home. If the low flow indicator is spinning or you see the numbers increasing there is a good chance the source of the leak is from the outside.

Now it is time to investigate!
